Rio-Active at Ellington's on Eighth

Rio-Active rocked Ellington's on Eighth, Sunday evening, July 18. The joint was packed and hundreds of eager fans were lined up outside hoping to get in. Ardent followers flew in from as far away as Boston!

During the show, Tina Tus, music critic for the Post, was overheard saying, "I have seen the future of Latin jazz and its name is Rio-something."

Rio-Active returned to Ellington's on Sunday evening, August 1, for another enchanting evening of the finest Brazilian jazz. Although the horn section was out of town, the percussionists in the audience carried the extra load with aplomb. Even the wait staff joined in. Speaking of aplomb, isn't Mary simply ravishing in her carnival attire. She is truly the consummate showperson.
